ST. MANG BAVARIAN MADE LIMBURGER

It has a reputation, we know, but it’s time to have a second taste. Our St. Mang Bavarian Made Limburger is mild in taste and gets stronger with age. This classic, made from milk from the Allgäu region of Bavaria, is a washed rind cheese which develops a mild to bold flavor, depending on the stage of maturity. For milder flavor, try Limburger when it is younger, 4-8 weeks before the best by date. For bolder flavor, try Limburger as it approaches its best by date. Just look for the distinctive golden foil and choose your own right time to enjoy.

LACTOSE FREE, GLUTEN FREE, & VEGETARIAN

ST. MANG Bavarian Made Limburger is lactose-free due to the natural maturation process during cheese-making. Our cheeses are all naturally gluten-free and because we use microbial rennet, they are 100% vegetarian-friendly.

WHAT DOES “WASHED-RIND CHEESE” MEAN?

A washed rind cheese is a cheese that is brushed with cultures on the outside during the cheesemaking process and develops an orange-red exterior and creamy interior as the cheese ages. We call this exterior a “rind” but it is totally edible and adds to the flavor of the cheese. These cultures used to age the cheese give it a distinctly strong sometimes “funky” smell compared to other cheeses, but it is a natural aroma of this style of cheese.
